CKDU 88.1 FM is Halifax's only campus-based community radio station, broadcasting original programming 24 hours per day, 365 days per year. Beyond a small group of 2 full-time and 3 part-time staff, the station is entirely run and staffed by over 200 volunteers.
About a quarter of CKDU's entire operating budget is raised through this annual funding drive – a 7-day on-air drive where our listeners call the station and pledge their support for community radio. Our goal this year is to raise $35,000. The Funding Drive is the biggest event of the CKDU year, and this year we are planning tons of awesome events throughout the 7 days of the Drive at various venues all over the city.
The Friends of CKDU Card is a discount card that is offered to donors who pledge $25 or more. This card is good for discounts of up to %15 off at participating businesses in the HRM. As an added bonus this year, the Friends of CKDU Card will also give you a discount of $1 off any CKDU sponsored event, concert, or show. This is valid from September 22, 2008 until October 1st, 2009.
