Top 5 Reasons to Support CKDU

#1 LISTENER SUPPORTED RADIO

All of the live programming you hear on CKDU is produced by community members who volunteer to provide this service. It's radio for the community, programmed by the community. All this volunteer effort, combined with listener support, make campus community radio like CKDU possible. We are as strong as your support.

#2 DIVERSE PROGRAMMING

A blend of music, spoken word, and cultural programming... CKDU offers music in streams like reggae, jazz, blues, hip hop, classical, metal, African, Arabic, Caribbean, Latino, First Nations, Italian, and French, among others. We cover sports, film, visual art, zines, anarchy & politics, community activities, paganism, health, poetry, radio drama, and more.

#3 COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

CKDU is committed to being a vehicle for public access by covering local issues and being involved with underrepresented voices in the community. CKDU has featured special programming for events like the Homelessness Marathon, Aboriginal Awareness Day, Radio Free Palestine, Prisoner's Justice Day, and Halifax Pride Week.

#4 INDEPENDENT MUSIC

CKDU is a vehicle for promoting and accessing local and independent music. Community radio acts as a platform for many emerging artists to get their music out there. CKDU often has live music performances in-studio, and promotes local concerts and events.

#5 A VOICE FOR THE VOICELESS

CKDU commits to 25% spoken word content, combining current affairs, newscasts, research and reporting, live and taped interviews. Operation Wake Up is a daily news program that covers current news with an alternative perspective to mainstream media.
